1 -strict o severe?-
Nota d'usoGli aggettivi strict e severe possono essere entrambi tradotti con “severo”, ma vengono usati per esprimere significati leggermente diversi. In ambito scolastico, strict si riferisce per lo più alla disciplina: Our teachers were very strict and there was always silence in the classroom, i nostri insegnanti erano molto severi e in classe c'era sempre silenzio. Severe, invece, riferito a un professore, significa “severo” nel senso di molto esigente riguardo al lavoro degli studenti. Tuttavia, nell'uso quotidiano, quando si parla di insegnanti si tende ad usare sempre l'aggettivo strict, perché la parola severe evoca una situazione estrema e spesso negativa. -
